Interesting –You taking call these days?

Most deadly times and places to drive
An important part of defensive driving is to make good choices about when and where you drive. To help you minimize your risk, we’ve compiled some useful facts. Putting them all together suggests that you run the least risk of a fatal crash by driving on Christmas Day between 4 a.m. and 5 a.m. The risk is even lower if Christmas falls on a Monday.
On the other hand, you run the maximum risk of having a fatal accident by driving on I-95 in Florida on June 10th between 9 p.m. and 10 p.m. when that date falls on a Saturday.
Here’s a round up of the deadliest times and places to drive based on data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (data is from 2008 or an average of the most recent three years) and from The Daily Beast, which recently compiled information on the most dangerous highways.

Most deadly days of the year to drive:

1. June 10
2. June 16

Hear the term Lucky Dog

Ok on the lighter side today from the net: Something different

Woo-hoo!!!!!

from Knuckledraggin my life away by wirecutter

Apparently, dog show judges like to see a little life in the face of the usually bored Bulldog. So in order to get a "questioning look" on their bull dog's faces, handlers molest their dog's nut bags while holding their heads up.
Dude is straight-up tickling that Bulldog's balls WITH feeling! He's doing it like he really means it. I expected the handler to whisper a love sonnet in the Bulldog's ear or lick his fingers before handling.
Makes you wanna be a bulldog, now doesnt it! ;))
My suggestion would be to keep this video away from Charlie, or he might expect the same treatment. nightly. and with a smile. LOOOOL

Southampton man cut free after getting penis stuck in steel pipe

http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/news/4838562.Trapped_manhood_cut_free_by_grinder/
A MAN who got his genitalia stuck in a steel pipe had to be cut free by eight firefighters using an industrial grinder.

The heavy duty cutting gear had to be used to remove the three-inch long hollow pipe after medics were unable to release it.

The painstaking operation, which involved eight firefighters, took around an hour.

The drama began after the man took himself to the accident and emergency department of Southampton General Hospital.

Restricted blood flow had left the man in a state of arousal, and unable to remove the pipe.

Staff there were so concerned that they phoned the emergency services and a crew from Redbridge Fire Station were initially dispatched.

But they had to bring in backup from St Mary’s station which has a fire truck equipped with specialist cutting gear.

A disc gutter cutter, with a four-and-a-half-inch blade, was used to slice open the stainless steel pipe.

The man, in his 30s, offered no explanation for his predicament but was said to be “quite concerned and anxious”. He had been given an anaesthetic to prepare for the procedure.

St Mary’s crew manager Adrian Johnson said: “It was a very delicate operation. We did not want anything heating up.

The person who did it deserves a commendation for his nerve and steady hand.”

Meanwhile, watch manager Greg Garrett from Redbridge station added: “I’ve only come across this type of thing three or four times in my 17 years as a firefighter. It’s not a daily occurrence.”

The man’s private parts were left bruised and swollen.

Fire Breaks Out Among Christmas Trees at Walmart
Police in Westbury, N.Y. say a fire has broken out among Christmas trees for sale outside a Wal-Mart on New York's Long Island during a busy holiday shopping weekend.
Nassau County Police say in a statement that the blaze was reported around 2:30 p.m. Saturday at the Westbury store. There are no immediate reports of injuries.
Bentonville, Ark.-based Wal-Mart Stores Inc. spokesman Dan Fogelman says the busy store was evacuated because of the fire in the store's garden shop.
Fogelman says it is unclear how many people were in the store at the time or how much damage was caused. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
The store remains closed and will reopen on Sunday.

Children Playing + Charger = FIRE  from Small Bits & Pieces by The Man

Fire that struck two Brockton triple-deckers and left 33 residents homeless was started by children jumping on a bed. Brockton Fire Lieutenant Edward Williams said Friday that the Thursday night fire was ignited when the children bounced up and down on two mattresses that were against a wall where a cell phone charger was plugged. He said the back-and-forth motion of the mattresses abraded a transformer for a cell phone charger which caused sparks or a short circuit. Williams said the fire flared up just after 8 p.m. Thursday, causing $150,000 in damages to one building and $50,000 to a nearby apartment building. Two firefighters suffered puncture wounds and cuts, but neither was hospitalized. No other injuries were reported.

Pet pig farting prompts gas leak fears from Funny & More by The Man

A pig with flatulence triggered a minor emergency near Bendigo this week when smells wafting from the 120kg porker sparked fears of a potentially dangerous gas leak.
Two Country Fire Authority tankers and 15 firefighters turned out in darkness to search the source of the leak at a property at Axedale, east of Bendigo. But the likely culprit was soon sniffed out, the pet sow startled from slumber in the dead of night.
"She got very excited when two trucks and 15 firefighters turned up and she squealed and farted and squealed and farted," said fire chief Peter Harkins.
"I haven't heard too many pigs fart but I would describe it as very full-on."
Mr. Harkins said the family had done the right thing by calling 000 to report a suspected gas leak: "It's all bottled gas up here and a leaking cylinder could pose a major fire risk.

Devil deer? Couple of tuff Kids here!

Not fires, but interesting news!

A couple of boys in the Pittsburgh area were involved in a friendly game of backyard football when the pigskin got away from them. It rolled down near a wooded area, and when one lad went to retrieve it, a deer attacked him. Yahoo Sports Reports

The kid only suffered a little bruising, and, as the video notes, he's fine now. In fact, I'd argue that he's even better than he was before, because now he knows he's got a friend that has his back.

Odd News, There’s your sign award

5 hurt, 8 Displaced where a blast was blamed on insect bombs

A pilot light probably ignited vapors from aerosol cans being used to kill bugs on the second floor of a Lebanon apartment, authorities say.

From Friday, August 28, 2009

LEBANON PA - Thomas Meyer was sitting outside his Lehman Street apartment building a little after 10 a.m. Thursday when he heard a huge bang.

"I heard a big explosion and there was smoke. Everything was flying," said Meyer, who lives on the first floor of the two-story building. "I never seen anything like this except in movies."

What he saw and heard was an explosion caused by vapors from as many as 31 cans of aerosol bug bombs that are believed to have ignited from a pilot light of a gas stove in a second-floor apartment, authorities said.

The explosion blew out a balcony wall and injured five tenants, said authorities, who were not allowing the eight residents of the three apartments to return until the building is inspected. Two firefighters were treated for smoke inhalation.

Seventeen cans of bug bombs were found on the second floor, 12 cans on the first floor and two in the basement, said David Eggert, a deputy fire commissioner.

The bug bombs were being used because landlord John Light had been issued code-violation notices for roach and bedbug infestation, Eggert said.

Tim Balsbaugh, a second-floor tenant, said he was getting ready to set off the bug bombs when another tenant, Dennis Morgan, grabbed some and took them into his apartment.

"He was not supposed to be setting them off yet," Balsbaugh said "I told him, 'Don't do anything' -- I hadn't gotten up there yet."

When the explosion occurred, Balsbaugh said, "I came flying out the side, getting hit with stuff."

He was released after treatment for breathing difficulties at Good Samaritan Hospital.

Karen Light, a second-floor tenant, was on the ground, Balsbaugh said. She was listed in good condition in Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center on Thursday, and Morgan was in fair condition, a hospital spokeswoman said.

"We're all lucky," Balsbaugh said. Zuleyka Torres, who lives next door, said she was awakened by the house shaking from the explosion.

"They took us all out because of the smoke," which she said was coming into her house from the attic.

Residents of adjacent buildings were allowed back in their homes Thursday afternoon after the air was tested.

Barry Fisher, Lebanon's fire commissioner, said one person had fallen from the balcony and one was on the balcony when firefighters arrived.

The aerosol vapors in bug bombs are flammable, Fisher said, and instructions on the cans tell users to make sure there are no open flames.

N.J. Man Dies After Falling Into Vat of Chocolate

CAMDEN, N.J. --

Authorities say a man has died after falling into a vat of melted chocolate in a New Jersey processing plant.

The Camden County prosecutor's office identified the victim as 29-year-old Vincent Smith II of Camden. He was a temporary worker at the Cocoa Services Inc. plant.

The accident happened Wednesday morning as Smith was loading chocolate into a vat where it's melted and mixed before being shipped elsewhere to be made into candy.

Prosecutor's spokesman Jason Laughlin says a co-worker tried to shut off the machine and two others tried to pull Smith out of the 8-foot-deep vat. He was hit and fatally injured by the agitator that mixes the chocolate.

Cocoa Services hires a second company - Lyons and Sons - to do the mixing.

A Little Dis”Tract”ed

Maybe He Was “Texting”

ON THE FIRST SUNDAY OF EVERY MONTH, railroad enthusiasts and day-trippers travel to Bonsal, North Carolina, to ride on the New Hope Valley R.R., a tourist excursion line operated by volunteers from the N. C. Railroad Museum.

Last week’s riders got a bonus with their ticket when they found out what happens when you don’t “Stop - Look - Listen”

Brian Kielty, 50, of Apex was driving the 21-yr.-old Mercury station wagon and was uninjured.  But his vintage Merc will be off the road for a while.  Kielty had no comment after being ticketed for “failure to reduce speed” by the State Highway Patrol.
